The Washington Capitals engaged in a shootout tonight with the third highest-scoring team in the National Hockey League. The outcome was predictable.

Bob Bourne scored two goals as the Los Angeles Kings erased an early 3-1 deficit with a four-goal second period and defeated the Capitals, 7-4. Bourne has seven goals all season, five in two victories over Washington.

"We played a good first period, then we go out in the second period and it's `Let's go score a lot of goals,' " Capitals Coach Bryan Murray said. "This team gives you a lot of chances, but they'll beat you by scoring goals."
