Two billion miles, seven years, GBP 250 million - now Titan is finally giving up its secrets

IT HAS travelled more than two billion miles and taken roughly
seven years to get there, but yesterday brought confirmation that a
European spacecraft had finally touched down on the surface of
Saturn's largest moon, Titan.
Heralding a new age of space exploration - it has been described
as "the most ambitious unmanned space mission of all time" - the
Huygens probe parachuted through Titan's thick, smoggy atmosphere to
reach the surface at about 11:30am.
