Runrig singer and ex-bishop chase top Arts Council post

FORMER Runrig singer and would-be MP Donnie Munro is in the running against a retired bishop to chair the Scottish Arts Council.

Interviews for the job were held this week and Mr Munro and Richard Holloway, the 71-year-old former Scottish Episcopal Bishop of Edinburgh, are on the shortlist.

The council oversees more than GBP 60 million in government spending on 100 arts organisations. But the job of chairman has been vacant since James Boyle left last June to run the Scottish Executive's cultural commission.

The post has had its salary cut by half, and Mr Boyle's commission is looking at ...
