THE witchdoctor costumes and exotic voodoo rock odysseys may now be consigned to his kaleidoscopic past, but Dr John is still no ordinary blues man. He remains, in his own idiosyncratic New Orleans parlance, "one fonky cat" whose enigmatic character has lured fans of all ages from students to pensioners into his boogy woogy web.

Support act David Viner - or Mr David Viner to you - is an old- school blues man in an indie rocker's body. Unsurprisingly this young English guitarist's blend of pastiche and standards has secured the patronage of garage ...
