Aggressive Holy Cross Ends LaReine's Home-Court Streak

Nineteenth-ranked Holy Cross took advantage of 11th-ranked LaReine's lethargic second-half play to hand the Royals their first home defeat in 20 games, 46-35, in a Catholic Athletic Association girls basketball game last night at LaReine.

Holy Cross (10-1) used a full-court, man-to-man defense and 3-2 zone press throughout to force LaReine (12-4) into 19 turnovers (12 in the second half). But the Tartans, who defeated ninth-ranked Seton, 51-41, two weeks ago, didn't just rely on the press to take the lead; they outhustled LaReine, and passed and shot the ball superbly.
