Minister rules out absolute right to buy
|
ROSS Finnie, the rural development minister, has effectively ruled
out any future absolute right to buy for tenant farmers.
Trying to quell criticisms of the Executive's farm-tenancy reform
bill, which gives a first-chance right to buy for some tenants,
effective from yesterday, the minister said: "Tenants will benefit
from enhanced freedoms to develop their farm business, including the
preemptive right to buy their farm and new rights to diversify for
those who continue to rent.
"The new tenancy options also provide greater choice for
landowners... We are confident that this act will stand ...
