The Salvadoran ambassador to the United States, Ernesto Rivas Gallont, asserts {op-ed, Feb. 4} that his country holds not a single political prisoner and that the 1,000 "political prisoners" referred to in an earlier op-ed article by William Van Wyke were jailed for "active terrorism, insurrection or membership in terrorist organizations."
