Factions fight for Free Church cash

THE legal wrangle over Free Church of Scotland assets worth
millions of pounds spilled over into court yesterday.
Referred to as "Continuing" or "Residual", the separate bodies
emerged in the wake of a high-profile prosecution of a senior
theologian on charges of molesting women.
The split has come under legal scrutiny in the Court of Session in
Edinburgh, after attempts failed to bridge the divide out of court.
The judge, Lady Paton, began hearing up to three weeks of
preliminary legal argument yesterday. She will rule on whether the
case should be allowed to proceed.
