Overhaul Scottish Water or prices will soar
|
SCOTTISH Water customers face more big rises in their bills unless
inefficiencies at the heart of the troubled organisation are
eradicated.
Alan Sutherland, the water industry commissioner, told The
Scotsman that if the quango did not make unprecedented efficiency
savings, bills could rise by as much as 7 per cent in 2005-6.
The industry's watchdog also said the public utility may have to
consider privatisation to raise funds for investment. A number of
senior management figures at the quango are understood to be open-
minded about the possibility of a future privatisation.
