Scientists prepare for worst with last bid to find stranded Beagle 2

BRITISH scientists yesterday finally admitted that the Beagle 2
Mars mission appeared to have failed, after another search for the
missing spacecraft drew a blank.
They announced a last resort plan to switch off and restart the
lander's computer, and said its mother ship would take high-
resolution pictures of the landing site.
Professor Colin Pillinger, the chief scientist, said: "I think we
have to look at the future.
"It's back to the bottom of the hill and pushing up the boulder
again."
Prof Pillinger said no signal had been detected during sweeps of
the Martian surface at the weekend ...
