68 Children Killed In Raid, Iran Says

Iran said yesterday that 68 schoolchildren were killed and 150 wounded in an Iraqi air raid on Sunday that hit two schools in the northwestern city of Mianeh.

Iraq said it shot down two Iranian warplanes and Iran said it downed one Iraqi fighter-bomber, The Associated Press reported. Ground battles reportedly continued east of the southern Iraqi city of Basra in a three-week-old Iranian offensive.
