Theatre closes following discovery of asbestos

THE Mitchell Theatre, in Glasgow, has been closed until further notice following the discovery of asbestos after routine survey work.

Glasgow City Council, which owns the building, took the decision after two air tests, conducted yesterday, revealed that the fire screen contained chrysolite, also known as white asbestos, at levels which contravene guidelines set down by the Health and Safety Executive.
