Scrutineer:Why we should be emotional about our stock investments

THERE are few hardier annuals in financial journalism than
articles warning shareholders about getting emotionally involved with
their investments.
Take for example the latest survey from Stocktrade, the execution-
only division of Brewin Dolphin, claiming that 17 per cent of
shareholders (potentially some 2.5 million investors) admitted to
having such a strong emotional attachment to their shares that they
would be reluctant to sell them even if they were performing poorly.
