Gaelic Language Bill set for launch

GAELS attending the 100th Royal National Mod, which opens in Oban
tonight, were given further cause for celebration with news that the
long-awaited draft Gaelic Language Bill is to be launched ahead of
the event.
Jack McConnell, the First Minister, will be in in the town this
morning to start the consultation process for the draft bill, which
will provide secure status for the language.
It has also been revealed that the Scottish Executive is to review
and modernise the national guidelines for Gaelic for those aged
between five and 14, to ensure they remain relevant for the 21st
