First Impressionism can be misleading

In terms of artistic blockbusters, nothing sells like
Impressionism. This familiar rule was proved yet again this summer
with record-breaking attendance at Monet: The Seine and The Sea,
staged by the National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh's
refurbished Royal Scottish Academy. So what better way to follow
Monet than with Degas, perhaps the second most famous Impressionist?
Edgar Degas takes centre stage in the second NGS show in the
refurbished building, which opens next week, running concurrently
