Final link in the Playfair project
|
THE final stage of the GBP 30 million Playfair project, now taking
shape behind scaffolding and fencing in the heart of Edinburgh, is a
barrel-vaulted colonnade supporting a roof strong enough to carry a
70-tonne tank.
Housed within it is a 120-seat restaurant which aims to deliver
evening dining with views out towards the Balmoral Hotel and the
Mound through 14ft windows, and an upscale menu on a par with the
Tower restaurant in the Museum of Scotland.
The Link building, as it is known, also boasts a 200-seat sloping
lecture hall with flexible seating, that can double up as an arthouse ...
