Alexandria Symphony Director Bows Out;George Steiner Reflects on Music Career

After nearly 50 years on the Washington classical music scene, George Steiner, music director of the Alexandria Symphony, is ready to slow down-a little. He will resign from the orchestra at the end of this season, his 22nd.

Steiner reflected this week on a career that includes work in academia, solo and group performance, and conducting. "I've been active in every facet of music in Washington, starting as a kid in 1938 with the National Symphony."
