FROM its inception on the basic premise of creating a memorial to Robert Owen and his revolutionary New Lanark experiment, the Clyde Valley now has a visitor attraction to rival anything in the world.

Owen, who has been described as the father of English socialism and the founder of the co-operative movement, was born in Wales and started work at the age of ten.
