SHE was an actress of much variety and charm whose voice could

Wendy Hiller was one of the leading actresses of the British stage
who commanded much respect from critics and was much loved by the
public.
Playwrights, too, admired her. George Bernard Shaw insisted that
she play Eliza in the films ...
