Sinan and the Flowering of Ottoman Architecture

For nearly 50 years, Sinan ibn Abdulmennan was the chief court
architect when the Ottoman Empire was at the height of its power and
wealth. From 1538 to 1588 he served three rulers, among them
Suleyman the Magnificient, and is credited with hundreds of mosques,
palace complexes and other buildings that reflect the glory of the
times. Sinan's designs have inspired subsequent generations of
Turkish architects and hold an important place in architectural
history.
