AS EXTRAVAGANT purchases go, nothing sounds as flamboyant as buying your own holiday island.

But tycoon Sir Richard Branson's latest acquisition - a tropical island in Australia - is not for his own pleasure, but for staff at his Virgin Group to use as a holiday retreat.
