High court judge arrested

A JUDGE in Zimbabwe who is believed to have angered the government by rulings made in favour of the opposition party was yesterday charged with corruption and attempting to defeat the course of justice.

Benjamin Paradza, 45, a high court judge, was arrested on Monday, the first serving judge to be arrested by police in Zimbabwe's history.

He spent the night in police cells and was released on $20,000 (GBP 12,500) bail.
