DESPITE only joining the school as head teacher in January, Valerie Nicolson is well acquainted with Anderson High - as a former pupil. She is very proud that her old school is doing so well academically - the number of fourth year pupils gaining five or more Standard Grades at level four or above has risen from 80 per cent in 1999 to 94 per cent last year - but adds that it is just one of the reasons the school is successful.
