Call for right-to-buy time limit

A PROMINENT tenant farmer has suggested that absolute right to buy
for tenants could be introduced for three years then dropped.
Most of the secure tenants to which right to buy of any kind would
apply have already made up their minds about what they would do,
Stewart Jamieson told a recent meeting on the Agricultural Holdings
(Scotland) Bill.
Those ready to buy would buy within the three years while
landowners "would have the comfort of only a short period of
uncertainty and land values would not be unduly affected".
