AN ESTRANGED comrade of Abu Nidal has claimed that the Palestinian guerrilla leader, who this week was reported to have died of gunshot wounds in Baghdad, once said that his group was behind the 1988 Lockerbie bombing.

Atef Abu Bakr, once a politburo member of Abu Nidal's Fatah- Revolutionary Council, revealed the guerrilla leader's alleged confession in an interview with today's edition of the London-based Arabic daily al-Hayat.
