He's fought in two wars but Amos Oz spends his days campaigning
for peace. As he prepares to spread the word at the Edinburgh Book
Festival, Israel's greatest living writer talks to Tom Adair about
rebellion and reconciliation in the Middle East
Amos oz, at his desk in the study of his house in the small town
of Arad, in eastern Israel, is on the telephone. His day is now 12
hours old. Outside it is hot. He may have been writing since early
