WALLIS SIMPSON was having an affair with Hitler's foreign minister
when Edward VIII gave up the throne to marry her, according to
records which have been released in the US.
The late Duchess of Windsor started seeing Joachim von Ribbentrop
when he was the Nazi ambassador to London in 1936 in the months
before the abdication.
The relationship - which remained close on his return to Germany -
was established by US spies in 1941 who were personally dispatched by
Franklin Roosevelt to monitor the former king on account of his Nazi
sympathies.
