American Ballet Theatre's 'Giselle': As Haunting as Can Be

"Giselle," ballet's grand romantic ghost story from 1841, is a
tale of love, betrayal, madness and, above all, passion. In its
second and third performances of the ballet this season, American
Ballet Theatre showed that passion comes in several flavors.
On Wednesday night at the Kennedy Center, Amanda McKerrow, as the
peasant girl whose love endures beyond the grave, was simple and
sincere in her feelings for Albrecht (the equally sincere Ethan
Stiefel), the count who courts her but forgets to tell her he's
