Climber escapes killer avalanche

A CLIMBER has cheated death on the world's third highest mountain after his companion was killed in an avalanche.

Stuart Findlay, from Edinburgh, was descending 28,169ft Kanchenjunga peak in the Himalayas when his friend Chris Grasswick was swept away.

Mr Grasswick, 39, from Canada, had reached the summit on Friday, and the pair were on their way down when they were struck by the avalanche at an altitude of about 27,560ft.
