GREAT Britain and Ireland's captain, Colin Montgomerie, who won the Irish Open at Druids Glen two years running in 1996 and 1997, will be the most influential Scot at the course near Dublin when play starts in the Seve Ballesteros Trophy on Friday - Paul Lawrie and Andrew Oldcorn also have important roles to play against continental Europe - but a less well-kent name from north of the border has wielded influence behind the scenes to make the match- play competition possible.
