Scots artist wins Beck's Futures
|
TOBY Paterson last night became the second Scottish artist in
three years to win the Beck's Futures prize, when he collected a
cheque for 24,000 pounds at the Institute of Contemporary Art in
London.
The prize has been described by the Face magazine as "a whole lot
hipper" than its much-derided competitor, the Turner Prize, and is
seen by some critics as the best yardstick for gauging the merits of
emerging contemporary artists.
Mr Paterson, 28, wonfor a collection of work, the most striking of
which was a large-scale, colour-rich wall painting, We Fall Into
Patterns Quickly.
