IT HAS been a highly satisfactory week for Scotland's wealthiest man. His business empire, now targeting Britain's booming housebuilding sector, continued to grow. It snowed in the Alps, meaning he could press ahead with plans for a weekend's skiing with his family. And on Wednesday evening, in the vast atrium of Glasgow's refurbished Kelvingrove Museum, he launched himself as a major political figure. Even for a man who has accumulated a fortune estimated at GBP 750m, it has been a good few days for Sir Tom Hunter.

It was never Hunter's intention to enter politics but, less than 100 days ...
