KEVIN Hart gazes at the drilling charts pinned to the walls of his office in Edinburgh city centre and smiles as he talks about the industry which has made his fortune. "You always need a dream in oil and gas," he says half-jokingly. "You need a dream in life, but you especially need one in oil and gas."

As chief executive of energy exploration group BowLeven, Hart knows all too well how costly and frustrating drilling holes in the ground in search of riches can be.
