Archangel nurtures firms for the market

ARCHANGEL Informal Investment, the business angel group, is
grooming a number of young technology companies for the stock market
following this month's GBP 165m flotation of Optos, the angel-backed
medical device company.
John Waddell, Archangel's chief executive, is encouraged by the
increase in flotations which began last year and said more are likely
to follow from Archangel's portfolio companies.
Waddell said the Optos flotation, which netted the average
investor a return of about 300 per cent, demonstrated that "patience
in investing in new businesses pays off".
