THERE is mounting public distaste over the conduct of the First Minister and the discredit he brings upon the Scottish parliament through his manipulative and petty manoeuvrings. The fact that Jack McConnell's attempts to play at Macchiavellian politics usually prove transparent - verging on the infantile - does not excuse his demeaning of the high office he holds.
