SNP casts out dissenting MSP for 'damaging party's interests'

THE rebel nationalist MSP Campbell Martin has been expelled from the SNP after party bosses ruled he had damaged its interests in the run-up to its poor European election showing in June.

The West of Scotland list MSP had been a regular critic of outgoing SNP leader John Swinney, who quit last month in the wake of a series of disastrous poll results.

The SNP said it had upheld two charges of conduct inimical to the interests of the party against Martin.
