Future bright for start-up companies as Archangel doubles rate of investment

SCOTLAND's biggest group of business angel investors has doubled
the rate at which it pumps cash into early stage companies.
Archangel Informal Investments, based in Edinburgh, invested GBP
3.3m in 12 companies in the first half of 2004, up from GBP 1.6m in
the same period last year. The rise shows that it is becoming easier
for early stage companies to raise cash.
Archangel investors include Mike Rutterford, the property
entrepreneur who set up Stuart Wyse Ogilvie, and Ian Sword, the
former chairman of Inveresk Research.
