How to do ... Archery?
|
What is it?
Bow, arrow, target. Green tights optional. Archery is one of the
world's oldest activities, but from prehistoric man to modern
exponent, little has changed in basic equipment or premise.
Two basic forms of the sport are practiced, each with a different
emphasis.
Target archery is the Olympic form of the sport and takes place on
flat terrain. Archers shoot a number of arrows, known as a round, at
targets over distances of up to 90 metres for men and 70 metres for
women, with points awarded for accuracy. Indoor archery for winter
has smaller target faces and closer distances.
