ZERUYA Shalev was raised on a kibbutz in Israel and now lives in Jerusalem. She is chief literary editor of an Israeli publishing house. Her novels include Husband and Wife and Love Life, both of which were translated into English and published by Canongate. She will be appearing at this year's Book Festival on Wednesday, August 14
