What the Koran says

SUICIDE is forbidden in the Koran. "O ye who believe!... [do not] kill yourselves, for truly Allah has been to you Most Merciful. If any do that in rancour and injustice, soon shall We cast him into the Fire..." ( Koran 4:29-30).

However some Islamic scholars have said that a suicide bombing is more akin to a difficult mission which is likely to lead to death. The point of the mission is to kill the enemy and it is therefore heroic.
