Lost: one Van Gogh painting worth 30m pounds. Is it in your loft?

GATHERING dust in a Scottish loft or locked away in a long- forgotten trunk is one of the world's great missing art treasures, worth at least 30m pounds.

Art historians are confident that a Van Gogh portrait of a Glasgow art dealer that went missing more than 100 years ago is still in the country.

The painting by Van Gogh of his friend, Alexander Reid, was sold by Reid's father for GBP 5 at the end of the 19th century because he thought the painting was "newfangled French claptrap".
