Chicken farm plan sparks fear of killer bug in water supply

FEARS have been raised that a proposed chicken farm in the Borders
will lead to Edinburgh's water supply being polluted with life-
threatening parasites.
Experts said that the plans to establish the facility near
Peebles, which would be Europe's largest free-range chicken farm,
could contaminate the Capital's main water supply.
Glenrath Farms is hoping to house around 300,000 chickens on the
site and has submitted detailed plans for the farm to the local
council.
But as the site sits above an underground aqueduct - which carries
Edinburgh's water supply from the Talla and Fruid reservoirs - ...
