A second Jacobite of the cherry
|
IT was a battle which lasted a mere 15 minutes and took place more
than two centuries ago. But it deserves its place in history as it
lit the torch for a second Jacobite Rising in Scotland.
Now the events leading up to the Battle of Prestonpans in 1745 are
to feature in a re-enactment marking the 262nd anniversary of the
historic confrontation.
The recently-formed Battle of Prestonpans Heritage Trust hopes the
commemorative event will be the first of many, with plans already in
place for a follow-up event next year.
