City climber dons tweeds for Everest
|
AN Edinburgh-born film maker has joined an international team of
climbers in scaling Everest in plus-fours and tweed jackets.
Gerry Moffatt, 43, is making a film about the attempt to prove
that two British climbing pioneers - who disappeared near the summit
in 1924 - could have made it to the top before their deaths.
The climbers wore replica 1920s clothes for all of the journey
except the final ascent, which they free-climbed without the safety
ladders installed by the Nepalese government several years ago.
