Indian government urged to start on Cairn pipeline
|
THE International Finance Corporation (IFC) has urged the Indian
government to speed up the construction of a 580km pipeline necessary
to the overall success of the Cairn India oil project.
Cairn India, a subsidiary of Edinburgh oil and gas explorer Cairn
Energy, has been locked in talks with the Indian government over the
pipeline, which is needed to ship the billions of barrels of oil in
Cairn's Rajasthan fields to intended markets.
The IFC, which is the private sector operation of the World Bank,
has lent around GBP 75 million towards the pipeline project.
