The third salvo has been fired in the legal battle at Washington Bancorp.

Attorney Robert B. Washington Jr. and two limited partnerships he represents yesterday filed a civil suit alleging that WBC Chairman Luther H. Hodges Jr. and nine "cronies" on the board are guilty of mismanaging the National Bank of Washington and of aggrandizing their minority positions in the bank.

Washington, a member of the boards of both WBC and NBW, its principal subsidiary, has sole voting power over about 5.4 percent of WBC's stock.
