Cable anchors fear hits Forth Road Bridge

CONCRETE blocks anchoring the Forth Road Bridge's main cables may
have to be replaced if safety officials are unable to check them for
corrosion.
The move, which could cost transport chiefs millions of pounds,
would see four new underground anchors built on the bridge if cables
encased in the concrete blocks cannot be checked.
The problem is the latest in a growing list to beset the 42-year-
