POORLY paid construction workers, bar staff, hotel cleaners . . .
it's become a cliche to think of those as the main occupations for
young Poles in Edinburgh.
Certainly, as we revealed yesterday, there are many in the city
who believe the influx of Polish people - with around 20,000 now
estimated to be living in Edinburgh - has been bad news. They are
accused by some of taking Scots' jobs and driving down wages as they
are prepared to work for less. Others claim Poles are good workers,
filling skill gaps and taking jobs locals aren't prepared to do.
But not all Poles are content filling ...
