New York's famous Guardian Angels are organizing in Hyattsville.

The crime prevention volunteers, identified by their red berets and white T-shirts, are hoping soon to have teams patrolling areas known for drug activity, and last month they began a recruitment program.

About a dozen local young people have joined the group for training after responding to fliers posted around Prince George's County. But Nick Scaldaferri, a New York man who moved to Hyattsville to direct the local chapter, said it needs to recruit 30 people before the patrols can begin.
