Fettes College looks west for fresh blood

ONE of Edinburgh's leading independent schools has launched a recruitment drive in Glasgow.

The internationally-renowned Fettes College, which counts Prime Minister Tony Blair among its former pupils, has looked west for fresh blood and wants to increase its annual intake from the Glasgow area.

Its headmaster, Michael Spens, is to hold a series of meetings for prospective parents in Glasgow willing to pay the annual fees of up to GBP 21,000. It is also to increase the amount that its orchestras and sports teams play in the west in an attempt to raise its profile.
